Presentation of Newly Created Website of Journal TSU Science

A presentation of a newly created website of a scientific journal TSU Science – tsu.ge/science as well as the 2014 annual edition of the journal was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on April 21. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, scientists and students attended the event.
TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said that “scientific activities are especially important for the university. We do our best to promote these activities. It has been already several years that the journal TSU Science is being published. Now the website has been created to provide online coverage of all articles published in the journal. It will be possible to hold a discussion around these articles. Moreover, it will also be possible to reflect the achievements of our scientists on the website.”
“The website will expand the area of scientific disciplines. Online coverage of these materials in the English language will definitely interest the specialists of this field, promote the establishment of new contacts and deepening of already existing contacts,” Deputy Rector, Professor Merab Eliashvili said.
Tamar Khorbaladze, editor of TSU Science, said: “The primary goal of the journal is to inform as many people as possible about those research activities, those international scientific projects, which are underway at TSU. Therefore, we have prepared both the journal and the website in Georgian and English. What is most important, this product is not designed only for scientists. We try to tell our readers about quite difficult scientific issues in a simple language.”
The new website is bilingual and it will acquaint the readers with the materials published in TSU Science and provide information about researchers; the website has a forum, which will enable the readers interested in science to express their views about research activities and get involved in a discussion with scientists. The latest news about TSU, video recordings of public lectures held by TSU and invited lecturers will also be posted on the website. The website language and usage is simple and it is designed not only for scientists, but for the broader public as well.
The journal TSU Science is a publication issued by the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). The primary objective of this scientific journal is to inform the public about scientific processes ongoing at the university. It contains materials about those research activities that have already gained international recognition, have received research grants and information about which has been published in peer-reviewed journals, while reports have been presented to scientific conferences. Frequently, these research activities are the result of successful international collaboration.
The journal is issued in Georgian and English languages. The first bilingual journal was issued in 2011 and two editions were issued annually. Since 2014 only one edition is being issued per year in two independent publications - in Georgian and English languages.
