On December 15 the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of the book “Georgian Christian Thought and Its Cultural Context” and No 3 of the International Journal “Philosophical Theological Reviewer” dedicated to the memory of Academician Shalva Nutsubidze, one of the founders of TSU and philosopher. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, students and professors attended the event.

TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said that “a famous Georgian philosopher, public figure, one of the founders of our university, Shalva Nutsubidze would have turned 126. The journal was published on this occasion and it is fully dedicated to Shalva Nutsubidze, his scientific activities. Simultaneously, the book was published in Holland, which is a collective monograph. The authors are famous Georgian and foreign philosophers. The book was published by an international academic publisher Brill and it aims at reminding the English-language society about scientific activities of Georgian philosopher, Shalva Nutsubidze. These publications are very important and I hope that the university will worthily prepare for celebrating Shalva Nutsubidze’s 130th anniversary.”

“Today is an important day for the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University – an anniversary of a great Georgian philosopher, founder of the university, Shalva Nutsubidze is being celebrated. Two projects have been dedicated to this day: Brill has published a huge monograph - not a single Georgian thinker had been given such an honor previously. They managed to demonstrate Shalva Nutsubidze’s huge contribution involving the Theory of Eastern Renaissance, research of the Corpus Areopagiticum, Rustvelology, his Russian translation of The Knight in the Panthers Skin and many other works. Simultaneously, the TSU Education Research Institute of Philosophy has published a journal “Philosophical Theological Reviewer”, which is fully dedicated to Shalva Nutsubidze,” Head of the TSU Education Research Institute of Philosophy, Demur Jalagonia said.
