TSU Hosts Meeting with First Student’s Daughter

A meeting with Nathela Villecourt Nicoladze, daughter of the first student of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Medea Gambashidze, was held at the TSU Museum of Emigration. Deputy Rector of TSU, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, administrative staff, students and invited guests attended the meeting.
Family photo albums brought by Nathela Villecourt Nicoladze, as well as the book of impressions about sanatorium Patara Tsemi by Davit and Vakhtang Gambashidze, which according to Rusudan Kobakhidze, manager of the Georgian Emigration Museum, was granted the status of a movable monument of cultural heritage, were exhibited. The book involves the manuscripts of the following public figures: Mikhako Tsereteli, Ekvtime Takaishvili, Kakutsa Cholokashvili and his followers, Noe Zhordania, Evgeni Gegechkori, Rezo Gabashvili, etc.
Nathela Villecourt Nicoladze believes that by returning to Georgia and donating unique materials to the archives, she somewhat made her family’s dreams come true. She allowed TSU to publish the book of impressions about Patara Tsemi, expressing hope that the book would make its contribution to marking TSU’s century-old anniversary next year.
Nathela Villecourt Nicoladze, a representative of Georgian political emigration, is a granddaughter of a famous Georgian doctor and public figure, Vakhtang Gambashidze, and a daughter of the first student of Tiflis University, Medea Gambashidze. Vakhtang Gambashidze’s family had close links to the first Georgian university. Vakhtang Gambashidze delivered lectures at the Faculty of Hygiene free of charge. His wife, Vanda Gambashidze was invited as an English language lecturer.
