More Students from TSU to Study for Free at European Universities

Students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will have more opportunities to study for free at leading European universities within the framework of the European Commission’s education program (Erasmus +). Lika Glonti, coordinator at the National Erasmus+ Office (NEO) Georgia, said that “among Georgian higher educational institutions, TSU received most mobility grants. TSU received more grants than all Belorussian universities together”. She also said that number of grants allocated for Georgian higher educational institutions has increased. In this view, Georgia is ranked 5th among 127 partner countries of this education program.
Head of TSU Foreign Relations Department, Tea Gergedava said that “within the framework of international credit mobility program, mobility with 45 leading universities of 19 countries will be financed in 2016-2018 for the students of all steps, as well as academic and administrative staff. It means that during this academic year over 300 international grants will be allocated. Up to 270 grants are envisaged for students.”
Since 2006, Tbilisi State University enabled 872 students to study for free at the best European universities at various steps of their studies. During the last academic year over 200 students participated in mobility. Students from TSU are undergoing their studies at the universities of Italy, Finland, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, other European countries and China.
