Diploma Work of TSU Alumnus Wins International Student Festival’s Prize

29 May, 2016
A diploma work prepared by Iza Titberidze, a graduate of the Film and TV Arts Department of the Faculty of Humanities at TSU, won a special prize at the International Student Festival recently. “Only One Kiss” is a short film created by Iza Titberidze in 2015; this year she sent the film to the Bangladesh Student Festival and won a Special Jury Prize – Special Mention.
The film also won the Jury’s Honorable Mention. Out of 768 films registered at the festival, 81 were selected, among them Titberidze’s film. The festival gathered students from South Korea, Israel, Ukraine, the United States, Venezuela, Great Britain, Iran, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, India, Italy, Germany, Singapore, Canada, Hungary, Macedonia, Nepal, England, Turkey, Norway, Australia, Sudan, Argentina, France and Georgia. “It should be noted that the film schools of the above mentioned countries have much richer technical base than our department and despite it, our film competed with others and won the special jury prize. We are happy about it,” says Nino Gelovani from the Faculty of Humanities, who was Titberidze’s leader.
It was not the first time that Iza Titberidze’s work won the prize. In 2004 her “Woman from Old House” won the prize for the best debut at the 10th international short film festival Sesily. Mostly TSU employees have played in an eight-minute film “Only One Kiss.”
Iza Titberidze’s lecturer, Beso Ormotsadze has served as a cameraman.
Iza Titberidze says that there was one particular circumstance that prompted her to send the film to the festival. She says that unlike feature films, life expectancy of short films is quite short. They remain in viewers’ memory and history after either uploading them to the Internet, or sending them to various consents. Iza Titberidze has already uploaded her works to the Internet. Usually, she sends her films to those festivals, where either no or low registration fees are required. “When you do not know whether you application will be accepted at all, it is a non-purposeful spending,” she explains. In future, she plans to enter master’s degree program and deepen her knowledge. Until then, she works at the Film and TV Arts Department as a video editor.
