Employment Forum at TSU

An employment forum was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on May 11. The forum, which was organized by TSU Career Development Center, aims at promoting student employment and career development. Up to 50 employers representing both public and private sectors participated in the forum.

Acting Rector of TSU, Darejan Tvaltvadze welcomed the participants of the forum and thanked the representatives of various organizations for their involvement. “Our university, which is the largest university throughout Georgia and serves about 22 000 students, has up to 3-4 thousand alumni per year. It is our key task to care about their employment and this is confirmed by setting up the Career Development Center at TSU two years ago. The today’s student forum is just being held with your and the center’s support,” Darejan Tvaltvadze addressed the participants.  

Head of the TSU Career Development Center, Khatuna Tskhadadze said that “the representatives of government agencies attending the forum are acquainting students with all necessary skills that students should have to get employment at their agencies. Students have an opportunity to select desirable positions. As far as the private sector is concerned, all the companies represented at the forum have vacancies and they offer internships to students.”

The Ministries of Education and Science, Agriculture, Environment Protection, Regional Development and Infrastructure, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Economy and Sustainable Development, Finance, Defense, Internal Affairs, as well as Public Service Hall participated in the forum held by the TSU Career Development Center for the first time.

The private sector was represented by the companies involved in the spheres of banking and finance, pharmacy, medical services, insurance, tourism and services, research and consulting, industry, trade and distribution.

The companies participating in the forum acquainted students and alumni with ongoing and future vacancies and internship opportunities, spoke about staff needs and staff policies of their respective organizations, give them recommendations about the development of professional skills.

Not only this event provides real opportunities for employment, but it plays an important role in terms of bringing the higher education sphere closer to labor market requirements.
