Ivane Javakhishvili 140 – Scientific Conference at TSU

In frames of solemn events dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili, the Faculty of Humanities at TSU held a scientific conference “Kartvelian Studies: Past, Present and Future.” Acting Rector of TSU, Darejan Tvaltvadze, professors and students attended the event.
Acting Rector of TSU, Darejan Tvaltvadze said that “Ivane Javakhishvili’s anniversary is the date that should be congratulated to each member of the university community, entire Georgia. Such people with their specific mission and contribution are not born frequently. The crown of Ivane Javakhishvili’s activities was the foundation of the first-ever national university in the Caucasus. This scientific conference is a part of solemn events and it is important that presentation of very interesting works was held within its framework.”
Volume 10 of the works prepared by the Institute of Georgian History and Volume 3 of young historians’ works were presented during the conference.
Solemn events dedicated to Ivane Javakhishvili’s anniversary were launched on April 15. A presentation of an album “Photos from Ivane Javakhishvili’s Family Album” released with the support of the Georgian President’s Fund was held in the village of Khovle of Kaspi district. On April 23-25, TSU will host an exhibition “Cartographic Heritage of Ivane Javakhishvili”; an annual scientific and student forum will also be held, where the authors of the best papers, both professors and students, will be revealed. A film “They Created the University – Film I. Ivane Javakhishvili” by Merab Kokochashvili will be shown. TSU Children’s University will organize a number of events in the village of Khovle.
