TSU Hosts International Conference on 20th Anniversary of Recognizing Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality by UN

An international conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of recognizing Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality by UN was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on April 27. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan to Georgia.
“An international conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality was opened at the university today. This event is being held in Georgia upon initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan and I think that it is very interesting. Like Georgia, Turkmenistan was a part of the Soviet Union 25 years ago and after its disintegration our countries chose different roads. Thus, permanent neutrality chosen by Turkmenistan is an interesting model in itself. This country has been developing in this direction for already 20 years and I think that the today’s conference will be interesting for all its participants,” TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said.
“Our country is marking the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality throughout the world. Turkmenistan’s neutrality was recognized at the United Nations General Assembly on December 12, 1995 and we are celebrating this day at the Tbilisi State University with an international conference dedicated to Turkmenistan’s neutrality,” Turkmen Ambassador to Georgia, Dovletmurat Muratov said.
The Rectors of TSU and the State University of Turkmenistan, academic staff, the Turkmen Ambassador to Georgia, foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia, independent experts and students participated in the conference.
