TSU, Interior Ministry Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on April 29. The memorandum was signed by TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava and Head of Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Zviad Katsashvili.

TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said that “TSU is interested in establishing cooperation in civil security issues. The university prepares highly qualified staff and government agencies are hardly imaginable without such staff. The Emergency Management Agency has an opportunity to use our potential better. Our young people will be able to undergo internships in this direction. As far as an educational course is concerned, we can initially introduce it as a selective subject.”

“The Emergency Management Agency will help increase student and staff readiness for emergency situations. Teaching of disaster management principles is also planned. We will focus on practical side. Our educational course will help acquire all necessary skills for disaster prevention, readiness and reaction,” Head of Emergency Management Agency, Zviad Katsashvili said.

According to the memorandum, TSU and Emergency Management Agency express bilateral interest towards cooperation in civil security issues; they will develop educational courses on civil security issues; prepare curricula to ensure prevention of emergency situations; cooperate with relevant personnel to carry out various information or educational measures; render support and carry out relevant activities.
