Autumn Legend 2014 Book Presentation at TSU

30 April, 2015
On April 30 the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a book presentation on Autumn Legend 2014. The student literary competition August Legend is a joint project of the Tbilisi State University and the company Geocell and it aims at discovering and paving the way for talented young people.

TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said: “The University has always been the smithy of creative young people; it has always been a supporter of holding literary competitions to reveal the best young, talented and creative people. The project Autumn Legend belongs to the university. It is being held for the sixth time already this year. It is a good opportunity for young people to demonstrate their skills. I am sure that they will show great interest toward participation in the next competitions, as the tradition has already been established.”

An illustrated book contains the works created by 10 finalists and the winner of online marathon during an improvisation round, as well as their biographies. The book was presented to the guests attending the awards ceremony as a gift.

Georgia’s First Lady, Maka Chichua also attended the event. She got involved in another project planned in frames of Autumn Legend, which will be implemented by the organizers with the support of Intellect Publishing House. First Lady Maka Chichua will illustrate the book by 2014 Finalist, Ani Lazviashvili. “For me, like for the author, it was a pleasant surprise to get involved in this project. When I read Anika’s work, I guessed that her vision was so close to me that I could illustrate it. So, I sat and thought for a long time how to visualize her words. Inspiration came from Anika herself,” the First Lady said.

“Publishing of the book means that you will become known to broader public. The responsibility is huge; it is a declaration that you are doing something. I am slightly afraid of people’s reaction. The illustrations created by the First Lady exactly reflect the essence of my stories; she had the same emotions as I had in the process of writing this book and it is quite visible in her illustrations,” Ani Lazviashvili said.

“Autumn Legend is a very important project for us, as it is related to students. Their encouragement and participation in educational projects is very important for us. The initiative unveiled today will yield tangible results,” Tako Rodonaia of the company Geocell said.

In 2014 the Training Center of Justice hosted the improvisation round of the competition in Kakheti. The contestants had 12 hours to create new works on the topic offered by the jury – “Suitcase and Five Things in it.”
