Day of International Criminal Justice

The International Law Institute of the Faculty of Law at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) marked the Day of International Criminal Justice with an academic conference. The International Law Institute holds the academic conference “Theoretical and Practical Issues of International Criminal Law” annually in connection with the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute, the founding treaty of the International Criminal Court (ICC), on 17 July 1998.

The conference covered actual theoretical and practical issues of international criminal law and related disciplines. About 20 BA, MA, PhD students and researchers from the Department of International Law of the TSU Faculty of Law participated in it.

Director of the International Law Institute, Academician Levan Aleksidze and Professor, Gender and Law Chair at TSU, Ketevan Khutsishvili addressed the participants. Students presented papers in frames of thematic panels. In particular, their papers covered a wide range of issues, among them aggression and use of force, the peculiarities of activities of the International Criminal Court, international crimes, international criminal liability and the relationship between international human rights law and international criminal law.

By the end of the conference, certificates of participation were awarded to all participants.
